What Sets Us Apart

Not Your Typical
Safari Outfitter

Wild Haven Tanzania was built on a simple idea: travel should give back more than it takes. Operating out of Arusha, our team designs immersive, low-impact journeys that leave both our guests and the landscapes they visit better off.

"Part of every booking flows back into the communities along our routes — funding schools, clean water and local jobs, and giving travelers a genuine connection to the people who call this land home."

— Wild Haven Tanzania, Arusha, Tanzania

Every guide on our team grew up in Tanzania and has spent years reading these landscapes. A share of each safari we run goes directly toward conservation work in the parks we visit.

Our Value

Years spent in these parks means we know which camps deliver, which routes avoid the crowds, and who to call when plans need to change. Strong relationships with our lodge and supplier network keep every trip running smoothly.

Fidelity

Tanzania is home before it's a destination for us. We share it because we're proud of it, and we protect it because our future depends on it — a portion of every trip goes back into keeping this place wild.

Our Purpose

A genuine love of the wild is what drives this company. That passion is why we've assembled a team of seasoned safari specialists dedicated to showing this land at its very best.

Guided Tours

Every game drive is led by a guide who knows the terrain and the animals on it — turning each outing into more than a sighting, with the stories and context to match.

Sustainability

Protecting the wilderness we work in isn't optional for us — it's the point. Low-impact practices throughout our operations help make sure these landscapes are still thriving for the next generation of travelers.

Unparalleled Service

From your first enquiry to the day you land back home, you'll have a dedicated point of contact looking after the details — with your safety and comfort as the constant priority.

Great Migration

Calving Season & Migration Months

More than 1.5 million wildebeest are on the move across the Serengeti at any given moment, chasing rain and fresh grazing in a loop that never really stops. Timing your visit to where the herds actually are is what separates an average game drive from an extraordinary one.

Calving Season — newborn wildebeest calves on the Serengeti plains

January – March · Calving Season

Southern Serengeti & Ndutu. On the short-grass plains here, as many as 8,000 calves arrive daily — drawing predators in for some of the rawest wildlife viewing of the year.

April – May · Moving North

Central Serengeti, through Seronera. The long rains set in and the herds begin their push north, turning the plains a deep green — a quieter, more atmospheric time to visit.

June – July · Western Corridor

Western Serengeti, Grumeti River. This is where the crossings begin for the year, with sizeable Nile crocodiles lying in wait as the herds brave the water.

August – October · Mara River Crossings ⭐

Northern Serengeti, Kogatende/Lamai. The signature moment of the migration and easily its most photographed — camps here fill up fast, so early booking matters.

November – December · Return South

Central & eastern Serengeti. Short rains bring the herds back south, arriving in Ndutu right as the next calving season gets underway.

Where We Go

Tanzania's Popular Safari Destinations

Africa has no shortage of remarkable places to explore, but Tanzania remains the continent's defining safari country. These are the names that come to mind first when people picture the wild heart of Africa.

Serengeti

1.5 million hectares of open savannah, and the stage for the annual wildebeest migration — vast herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle sweeping across the plains.

Explore

Tarangire

Second only to the Serengeti for wildlife density within Tanzania, and widely regarded as home to one of the largest elephant populations anywhere on Earth.

Explore

Ngorongoro Crater

The world's largest intact volcanic caldera, sheltering more than 20,000 large mammals — including some of Tanzania's last black rhinos. A UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Explore

Zanzibar Islands

Palm-lined beaches, warm turquoise water, and a rich blend of Swahili, Arab and African culture — Zanzibar is the perfect counterpoint to a dusty safari.

Explore

Lake Manyara

Known for its tree-climbing lions, a groundwater forest alive with primates, and shorelines often lined pink with flamingos.

Explore

Mount Kilimanjaro

Standing 5,895m tall, Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest point and the world's tallest free-standing mountain, reachable via five distinct trekking routes to its snow-capped summit.
